Tyler Campbell

Tyler is an active musician who enjoys playing in a variety of musical settings. He has had the privilege to play for multiple productions in the Nutmeg Summer Series at the Connecticut Repertory Theatre, along with productions at Castle Craig Players and Playhouse on Park. More recently, Tyler was a drummer for “Broadway In The Berkshires” a benefit concert hosted by Richard Kind and starring some of Broadway’s beloved performers. In the Hartford area he has played with jazz and soul groups such as the Rob Zappulla Big Band and Mike Palin’s “Other Orchestra.” Frequenting the New York scene, Tyler has been a percussionist with the Chelsea Symphony in Manhattan. As percussionist, guitarist and vocalist, he has taken the stage in the singer/songwriter realm at some of Manhattan’s highlight venues including Rockwood Music Hall, The Bitter End and Mercury Lounge.

A passionate educator, Tyler has taught percussion at many schools across the state of CT. He currently serves as Percussion Caption Head at Newtown Highschool, as well as the University of Connecticut where he coordinates and arranges for the battery percussion section. In the past he has worked with WGI Medalist Trumbull High School and the 7th Regiment Drum & Bugle Corps.  Through his teaching, Tyler enjoys finding and exploiting the relationships between different styles and approaches to percussion. With respect to any student’s desired focus, he aims to foster a learning environment that encourages curiosity and versatility. Tyler is a proud member of the Vic Firth Education Team and serves on the advisory board for the Eastern Connecticut Performing Arts Association.
